Once again because of length, the week’s newsletter is in two parts. This part provides information on international events that I think are significant for readers.
USA
The leaked Supreme Court Roe v. Wade draft ruling related to abortion is significant for many reasons. The leaking to a reporter from the left-wing news website Politico of a draft opinion from the Supreme Court is unprecedented. The leak is thought to have come from one of the 36 clerks (there are 4 for each of the 9 justices) most probably from one of the liberal justices’ clerks. A story yesterday reported that the husband of one of the clerks is a journalist and is friendly with the journalist from Politico who wrote the story. It seems that the leak was made with the intention of putting political pressure on the Supreme Court justices to reverse their decision on what is likely to be a 6 to 3 majority opinion to overturn Roe v. Wade. Conservative justices are now being targeted in their homes by organized protestors who say that their goal is to “rise up against a corrupt and illegitimate Supreme Court”. However, many legal scholars believe that the original Roe v. Wade decision made 50 years ago had no constitutional foundation. Essentially this appears to be the leaked legal opinion written by Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito who wrote “It is time to heed the Constitution and return the issue of abortion to the people’s elected representatives”. There is a good summary of Alito’s 67 page opinion in the Spectator Magazine and worthwhile taking the time to read.
The issue is critical to the future of the US and the world because if we as a society continue to condone the legal killing of the unborn, we invite God’s wrath. The blood of 63 million babies who have been killed since Roe v. Wade in 1973 cries out from the graves. It is only a short step from killing babies to killing other “undesirables” in society, which we saw most clearly recently in the way that elderly people were sedated and killed during COVID-19 outbreaks and there also have been genetically “undesirable” children eliminated.
Planned Parenthood is the biggest abortion provider in the US and receives extensive government funding for so-called “women’s reproductive health”. The person acknowledged as the founder of Planned Parenthood was Margaret Sanger, who established the forerunner of Planned Parenthood, the American Birth Control League in 1921. Sanger, who is still lauded by the political left, was a racist eugenicist who believed that the minorities were inferior as were those physically and mentally handicapped and so they should be sterilized and abortions mandated. Her aim was “for the greater good and for a more intelligent, liberated, and healthier population”.
Not only is abortion a great evil but recent evidence has revealed that Planned Parenthood personnel sold dead baby parts for biological testing and humanized mice experiments. This was exposed by Judicial Watch and there is now a legal case against Judical Watch. How could the US with its foundation of liberty and individual freedom have become enmeshed in a death cult on the apparent basis of a woman’s “right to choose”. This “right” includes that of a woman to kill her baby up to and even after birth in many US States. What about a baby’s right to live?
It is horrific to think that we have condoned this evil as a society and also promoted it. Why is the political left so focused on abortion? Firstly, there is evil racism and eugenics behind the abortion industry. Black babies are aborted at five times the rate of white children. This has had a huge impact on the black population in the US. Secondly, the political left sees the issue of abortion being about “equality”. The left is fighting so hard because their contention is that there are no differences between men and women – in fact men can become women and vice-versa. This is a central plank in a world view that is satanic and opposed to God in every way. For a country founded on God’s laws and principles and with a majority of Christians, it is shocking to see the support by many Christian denominations for a “right to choose”, in the name of individual conscience.
Widespread and legalized abortion is a stain upon the soul of the US and the Supreme Court quite rightly is returning this issue to the individual states, which was the intention of the founders of the Republic when there were contentious issues. Unfortunately, because the issue of the “right to an abortion” is a non-negotiable one for the political left, there will be intimidation and violence to achieve their political ends. The Supreme Court which was meant to be above the political process has been dragged into the political arena and it is another sign of disintegration of the US as a stable country. The end result will be political instability, violence and eventually the likely secession of some conservative states from the Union. I predict that at some stage there will need to be martial law imposed because of the breakdown in law and order.
God spoke to Cain in Genesis 4:10 and said “The voice of your brother’s blood cries out to Me from the ground”. How much more is the blood of 63 million babies crying out to God? His judgement on abortion promoting nations is certain.
United Kingdom & Europe
Emanuel Macron easily won the French presidential election although there was great variability in voting with country regions voting for Marine Le Pen. Many French voters think that the election was rigged. Macron is the ultimate European technocrat and will have 5 years to inflict technocratic tools on French society. He sees himself now as the leader of Europe, following the retirement of German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Macron will impose digital ID and France will be at the forefront of the fourth industrial revolution. Unelected European bureaucrats will continue to promote a New World Order and will be interesting to see if the United Kingdom can escape the clutches of the European State as the UK tries to finalize the Brexit agreement.
An interesting and little reported story this week was about thousands of Germans fleeing to Paraguay in South America. The reason for this seems to be hostility and violence towards native Germans from Muslim immigrants and also vaccine mandates.
“Partygate” continues to play out slowly in the UK and has now engulfed the Labour opposition leader Sir Keir Starmer. This is being called “beergate” by the UK press and relates to a Labour planning meeting in Durham in April 2021. Evidently there is a video of the occasion taken by a passer-by and the video shows Starmer drinking a bottle of beer at 10:04 pm with a group during a time when indoor socializing was banned. It has emerged that the group ordered £200 of Indian food (this indicates a lot of people present) and while Labour says it was a campaign meeting, Durham police now have launched an investigation.
The draconian lockdown policies which were implemented in the UK and internationally have been found to have been of no value in containing COVID-19 according to data just released by the World Health Organization. Reports in the last few days have revealed that despite their refusal to lockdown, Sweden had one of the lowest death tolls in Europe. No-one appears to have told President Xi as he continues to lockdown half of China.
Russia and Ukraine
A number of news organizations have reported this week that US intelligence information has allowed the Ukrainian military to target and assassinate Russian generals. I wrote some weeks ago about the story of the cornered rat, which attacked in the St Petersburg apartment of the Putin family when Vladimir was a boy. It does seem as though this is the strategy of Western powers who are pushing Putin into a corner. Putin’s history and background suggest that he will not back down and so I think that at some stage we can anticipate a strike back by Putin, possibly even a nuclear one.
There are reports that Putin has undergone surgery this last week for some type of abdominal cancer and that he also has Parkinson’s disease and possibly dementia. The report is from a Telegram channel and it is hard to know what the truth is but a range of sources have speculated about Putin’s health and it undoubtedly will become clearer in the next weeks. As usual with Russia, it is difficult to work out what is propaganda and what is real. I have read a range of analysts views this week and there are quite a number who believe that Putin could be overthrown if the Russian invasion fails to make significant progress. There must be pressure from the oligarchs’ wives who can no longer go shopping in Paris.
The only thing certain is that many more Ukrainian lives will be lost as the West continues to pour cash and military supplies into Ukraine. My sense is that the Ukrainian war is a sign of fundamental change to the world order and it is clear that ongoing disruptions will continue to international supply chains. The West has sent most of their military equipment to Ukraine and so President Xi, who has the most military personnel in the world (2 million in the Peoples Liberation Army) is biding his time in relation to Taiwan.
China vs The West
President Xi seems to be stepping up his autocratic powers as lockdowns are extended across China including large industrial cities like Zhengzhou, where iPhones are manufactured. Schools have been closed, public transport restricted and therefore the economic impact is great. China continues to support Russia in the Ukrainian conflict and a foreign ministry spokesman said “sanctions only make the world economy worse”, which undoubtedly is true.
Meanwhile, the invitation by the Solomons Islands Prime Minister to China, which provide aid to the Solomons and establishment of Chinese military bases, has concerned security analysts in the ANZUS alliance. Solomons Prime Minister Sogavare said that he “feared invasion” by unnamed countries. China’s presence in the South Pacific will change the balance of power in this region and further political instability. The Australian Labor Party (left wing) is politically close to China and as a Labor win in the elections in Australia in 2 weeks seems likely, we can anticipate Australia opening doors to China to provide our resources and land.
Israel
There has been a furor in Israel this week following Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov saying that Hitler had Jewish blood. The point seemed to be that Ukrainian President Zelensky is Jewish but could still be a “Nazi”. The Israeli Prime Minister, Naftali Bennett, has received an apology from President Putin in the last few days. Israel seems to be playing a role in mediation between Russia and Ukraine and many Jewish Ukrainians have fled to Israel since the war commenced. It will be interesting to see if Israel is further involved in peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine.
Israel has this week celebrated its founding in May 1948 and unfortunately another terror attack was carried out by Palestinians. Three Israelis were killed and four wounded in axe attacks in the city of Elad. This follows a number of other attacks by Palestinians in the last month related to tensions around the Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem where Jews are allowed to visit but not to pray. The mosque is thought to stand on the site of the Jewish Temple which was razed to the ground by the Romans in AD70.
Unfortunately there is no solution to the ongoing violence that has been part of Israel’s history since its modern founding. The coalition Bennett-Lapid government with a bare majority looks increasingly fragile as it enters a parliamentary session next week. The Israeli newspaper Haaretz says that government members are “as optimistic as a bunch of hikers having to cross a Golan Heights minefield”. It looks as though the current government will not survive and there will be another election – this next one the fifth one in 3 years.
The Bible does tell us that there will be a time when a peace treaty is signed with Israel but it is a sign of the rise of the antichrist (Daniel 9:27). In the midst of all the challenges internationally, is important to keep our eyes on what is happening in Israel.
